Blizzard of 2011

It's still hard to believe that we actually had a blizzard here...but I think we all have the memories and pictures to prove it. I know we do! Of course the week that it happened Travis was out of town (meetings in MN-who would have thought we would have more snow than them!)

It started out a "normal" enough week but due to the concern of family members :) the kids and I loaded up to head to mom and dad's (for what I thought was a day or two) in case the power happened to go off. Little did we know that we would be there for 4 days! Travis made it back to us Wednesday night but we were snowed out of our house until Thursday night.

The snow didn't really look that crazy until it was time to drive home. The roads almost looked like tunnels because the snow was piled up so high on both sides! It was especially crazy to look out across the fields and see a crisp white blanket covering what use to be ditches, roads and driveways! It was interesting to finally reach our house... our driveway(s) were crazy. I really had no idea how anyone would have known or guessed where to even start!

Like I said we have the pictures and memories to prove it...below are some of my favorite of the snow at both mom and dad's house and our house. And of course we have the memories too, our kids LOVED playing in it for the many days that it lasted!

mom's name log practically covered in snow

The swing, a favorite spot for my kids to hang out. Of course they had to try it, you can imagine how successful they were!

the path from the barn

Of course we had to (finally) meet some of the new baby lambs

"showing the lambs" Andi thinks that if they are this small you have to pick them up.

One of our other favorite winter pasttimes...snowball fights!

wonder who will win?

Cooper enjoying himself while laying down and eating snow.

snowed "out"

Finally home and a view of our front yard and driveway.

The kids standing in front of a snowdrift out the front door.

Who knew (just) walking could be so much fun?!

Cooper walking in the "driveway"

trying to play (aka dig out) in the backyard

Travis' shooting target was almost covered entirely.
If you look closely it is in the previous picture too.

TJ standing in the same snowdrift.

climbing the mountains

walking behind the drifts in front of our house...

Cooper - so cold, but oh so fun!
